Jumpsuit

"I can't believe how much I hate pressures of a new place roll my way," I think that this lyric from 'Jumpsuit' means that Tyler just simply hates the pressures of Dema, which is where all of Tyler and Josh's problems stay, coming his way because Josh never talks about any of his problems so Josh can escape Dema. "Jumpsuit, Jumpsuit cover me," I think this lyric means to hide Tyler from his problems and for him to brush off all his problems and leave them behind him as he goes about his life so he wouldn't have to suffer his whole life. "Spirits in my room, friend or foe?" I think this lyric means that Tyler hears voices but he doesn't know if they're trying to make him commit suicide or if they're trying to help him escape Dema. "Felt it in my youth, feel it when I'm old" Tyler still feels his anxiety since he's been young and he's gonna feel it when he's old. "Dusting off my, Jumpsuit" All of Tyler's problems were on the jumpsuit then he's dusting his problems off and going about his life. "I'll be right there, but you'll have to grab my throat and lift me in the air, if you need anyone" Tyler will have to be dead before his problems mess with him. "I'll stop my plans, but you'll have to tie me down and then break both my hands, if you need anyone" Tyler stops his plans to escape Dema if you break his hands and tie him down because you use your hands for everything. Lyrically, as mentioned on the "dmaorg" website that accompanies this album, the song refers to the disillusionment with Dema (a fictional walled town) and the escape attempts of Clancy. The title of the song refers to a yellow jumpsuit that is used to prevent detection by the bishops overseeing Dema because the colour yellow can not be seen by the bishops. In the music video for the single, one such escape attempt is seen. We have the "I'm heavy, my jumpsuit is on steady" paradox, and "I'm lighter when I'm lower, I'm higher when I'm heavy" I think this means that being "heavy" is wearing a jumpsuit and believing in God. In certain aspects, living as a Christian is a sacrifice. To be modest, you are called. It's not always, in one sense, a happy life, and it's a hard, hard thing to do. In the New Testament, Jesus promises that Christian life entails suffering and that it will not always be peaceful or prosperous. On the other hand, in the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus says, "My yoke is easy and my burden is light". By this, he means that if we have faith in him, we are free of sin, and we do not bear our own misery or sin, and he bears our own burdens on us. The jumpsuit, that is, redemption, makes you heavy and light at the same time, higher and lower. It is difficult to be inferior, to be modest, but when you have faith, you are also free and free from sin. The same thing is repeated by "I'm so high, my jumpsuit takes me so high" my faith sets me free, takes me high to heaven, free of guilt and sin, etc., even though it comes at a cost in this life.
